LANGUAGE: the course will be conducted in English and/or Italian, depending on the participants
PARTICIPANTS: Minimum 4
PROGRAM: power point presentation, introduction to the Neapolitan dialect. Life, heart and soul of Neapolitan people. Videos with the most famous Neapolitan singers and the most beautiful songs with lyrics . History of Neapolitan song from 1800 to 2000, explanation, history and comment of each song.

REMINDER: Some of the most important tenors in the world have chosen to interpret these songs: Pavarotti, ANdrea Bocelli, Jose' Carrera, Placido Domingo, Giuseppe di Stefano, etc. as well as the most famous pop singers: Pino Daniele, Gigi Fininzio, Sal Da Vinci , Gigi d'Alessio, Massimo Ranieri, etc..

  • How many songs will we listen per each class?
    One or two: it depends on the song, on the story to tell and the subject to discuss

  • Shall I sing? . . . I don’t want to sing
    No, you don’t have to sing

  • Can my friends register for this workshop? They cannot speak Italian
    Yes, it’s open to everybody.

  • If my partner wants to join , does he/she have to pay?
    No. The price is per person or per couple

  • Why are you offering this workshop?
    For many reasons:
    - You cannot visit Naples, Sorrento or Amalfi coast without hearing Neapolitan music. The music can be heard in the shops, the restaurants and on the streets. It would be nice for foreigners to understand a little bit the meaning and the history of these songs
    - Neapolitan songs are not just beautiful music, they tell a story – the story of the Neapolitan experience, their lives, their hopes, and their dreams.
    - Neapolitan songs are recognized as one of the most important repertoires of songs in the world and one of the first examples of popular music.

    - Neapolitan music has six hundred years of history.This musical genre has been so important that some of the most important singers in the world have chosen to interpret them.
